Earlier this month, the company, which also has premises in Burstwick, was fined £12,500 for safety breaches.
This morning an employee at the site confirmed Hedon Salads had been placed in administration, but said she did not know which firm had been appointed to handle the matter.

“Hedon Salads fate is only to be blamed on their owners, not polititians, supermarkets, weather nor black magic. Anyway they will not even suffer a penny loss from their pockets. Sadly their workforce will.”

“No wonder they're going under. I mean like, who eats salad round here? (Slaps his own face). Just a jest. Sorry to all who'll lose their jobs.”

“If you feel marvelous presenting a full to the brim blue wheelie bin for collection for all the right reasons then you should rest assured Hedon Salads has gone”

“While very sad for those losing their income, surely inevitable that anything involving greenhouses in this country was not going to last?”

“My son works there as an apprentice, they took him on knowing he had high functioning autism. They offered him a chance when no one else would. I will always be grateful to his boss at Burstwick for the experience they gave him. I am just so sad for all the people who work there. Yet another casualty of Cameron's broken Britain. We can't all live off inherited wealth and trading bonuses”

“Unified, it's because of people just like you that school standards are continually slipping.
There's an absolute fundamental difference between a typo, which we all have from time to time, and the use of wrong word, just because it's pronounced the same.”

“ComeonUull..........you're correct, their net worth was £1.4 million to November 2010 !!! However 2009 turnover was £35 million, net worth 720k, 2010 turnover was down to £15 million however net worth grew to £1.4 million. 2011 accounts show a horrible story........turnover fell to £ 9 million and net worth fell to 425k !!! Another year has passed as we are now at November 2012 so looking at the trend I would guess it was on a downward spiral in the past 2 years anyway !!! Hoever Hedon Salads are owned by Hedon Salads Holdings who are a very healthy company indeed so it'll be interesting to see if it's 'Holdings' has been put into administration, either way more sad news for our city and outlying area's........and right on Xmas as usual !!!”
