"I thought I would write about it to let her know I was cool about it.
"I also thought it would make a nice present for my boy when he is born."
The song, which took Mr Fettis seven months to compose and record, features old Hull College friend Callum Smith on guitar.
A video was produced in Steve's Endymion Street home by Berry Productions UK. It took three hours to film.
The bingo caller said: "Music is what I have been doing for years, so it is like second nature.
"I've had a good reaction from work-mates and friends.
"It's really cool that people all over the world are listening and seem to like it."
The song's chorus goes: "I can't wait to meet you/I'm going to be so proud/I'm trying to put it into words but I don't know how."
Mr Fettis said: "I'm pretty chuffed with how it has come out.
"The lyrics took me a couple of weeks to come up with.
"I can usually knock it up a lot quicker but I wanted this to be perfect.
"When my boy is old enough to understand it, it would be cool for him to say 'my dad wrote a song about me'."
Steve, who was in a band when he lived in Driffield, says has not done that much musically for ten years.
He said: "I decided to put it on YouTube as I heard you could make money from it – which would go towards my boy and giving him a better life.
"In the end I'm not sure how this is done, so I have released it on iTunes for people to purchase.
"I told Vicky about the song once I had finished it. She is usually my other pair of ears when I've been writing songs.
"I was going to pack in the music when I was told Vicky was pregnant. This was going to be my last song but following this success I've decided to carry on with the writing."
Steve and Vicky have been together four-and-a-half years and got engaged just before Christmas in 2010.
Vicky, who worked in the offices for Dennis Butler, a wholesaler of fruit and vegetables in Hull, said: "I'm so proud of him for doing it. I must have shown it off to my friends 30 or 40 times.
"He never told me what he was doing until the song was finished.
"It's brilliant and unexpected that it has been watched all over the world."
His video has received praise on YouTube. One man posted: "I love the song. I'm daddy to be."
Another said: "Like Bob Marley said, it's so nice I had to play the same song twice."
