More than 420,000 extra vehicles use bridge after toll cut

ALMOST 430,000 extra vehicles have made the trip over the Humber Bridge compared with the same period last year – a rise of 9.21 per cent.

As reported, the cost of the crossing was cut from £3 to £1.50 for cars, and the charge was dropped entirely for motorbikes, on April 1.

The latest figures released by the Bridge Board show that in the 39 weeks since, 69,405 motorcycles; 4,629,284 cars; 145,422 vans and 238,699 trucks have made the crossing – a total of 5,082,810.

During the same period last year, 7,577 fewer motorcycles; 432,317 fewer cars and 21,078 fewer trucks crossed the bridge.
