A grandmother who was given an anti-social behaviour order for pestering the police breached it a day later, the Mail can reveal.

Patricia Greene, 78, became the oldest woman in Hull to be given an Asbo when she was handed an interim order last month.

However, she breached the order 24 hours later – on the day she featured on the Mail's front page – by making two 999 calls to police.

As previously reported, the widowed grandmother-of-three, of Jipdane, Orchard Park, was given the order after pestering police up to 20 times a day.

The calls would then become "threatening and abusive".

The order bans her from contacting police "unless there is a genuine emergency".

She must also not cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The Mail understands Mrs Greene also contacted forces in West Yorkshire and Scotland when Humberside Police began terminating her calls.

Mrs Greene told the Mail that she has suffered three years of torment since moving to the estate when her home in Hotham Road, west Hull, was flooded in June 2007.

After the previous hearing, she told the Mail: "I have lived in fear.

"They bang footballs against my house, shout at me and have threatened me with broken glass.

"I sit here and get upset and ring the police. Then I have some wine and I don't know how many times I have rung them.

"I don't know what to do. I am on my own, so I ring the police and they have done nothing.

"When you have had a good drink, you don't know what you are saying."

Mrs Greene admitted breaching the interim order at Hull Magistrates' Court yesterday.

District Judge Frederick Rutherford said: "This case is summed up well by a police officer who says the change in this woman comes about as a consequence of alcohol.

"While there has been one breach, we can only take it that the rest of the time she has refrained from what causes the problem in the first place."

The court heard Mrs Greene has been unwilling to cooperate with social services in the past.

However, doctors who have examined her have found no evidence of mental health problems.

A hearing will be held in September to decide whether Mrs Greene should be given a full anti-social behaviour order, which could be made for up to five years.

“In the old days,There was a Lady called 'Eve Smith',She liked a drink or two and was a bit of a nuisance,They could not do much with her, She could not pay fines,So the 'magistrate' made her scrub the police cells out instead,You would see her muttering to herself at least once a month leaving the cop shop after she had completed her sentence,Apart from that she was a nice old lady and once gave me sixpence so i could go and watch the 'three stooges' at 'Prinny Hall', The poor lady died in 'Delapole hospital'.”

“buggs barton upon humber, The reason they are not doing anything to help this lady to move is as follows> Young drug/alcoholic addicted people ,Plus muggers, rapist's,violent offenders, child abusers and killers will get all the help there is, BUT if you are aged over 60 they do not care about you because according to them 'You are past help and should just wait for God to help you, and we know what that means don't we!.”

“This poor lady needs help, not persecution. It does not matter what her problem is, she needs help to be able to have a reasonable lifestyle in her later years. Any junkie or drunk or thieving tw-t would get help. Why not her?.”

Alan, you don't know that she did any of those things. If she was 19 you'd be calling for her to be strung up.

Pensioners have no repect these days.”

“Alan, West Hull, Well said I know of a couple who have suffered at the hands of neighbours for over 5 years and the anti-social team and the police and the council have done nothing to help. I think all they are doing is giving people lip service. Time they earned their wages.”
