Adam Pearson banned for 16 months after being caught drink-driving

HULL FC owner Adam Pearson has been banned from driving after being caught behind the wheel almost twice the legal limit.

The Black and Whites boss was stopped in his home town of Harrogate on May 11 last year.

He was found to have 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg of alcohol.

Pearson, 47, was in his Range Rover, which has personalised number plates, when he was stopped in Victoria Road.

He initially denied the charge at Harrogate Magistrates' Court last year but later changed his plea to guilty.

Pearson has now been fined £500 and banned from driving for 16 months.

He has been given the opportunity to reduce his ban by four months if he completes a £250 anti-drink drive course.

He was ordered to pay a £15 victims' surcharge and £200 court costs.

Pearson is one of the most prominent figures in the city, given his involvement with both Hull City and Hull FC.

He rescued Hull City from the brink of administration in 2001 to lead the club to successive promotions and into the Championship.

He left the club in 2007, selling to new owner Russell Bartlett, before returning to the club at Bartlett's request in November 2009, with the Tigers again in a perilous financial position.

Pearson was key in negotiating a deal that saved City for a second time, when he helped negotiate the deal for Assem and Ehab Allam to bail City out from a threatened winding-up order, with a £21m overnight investment.

Pearson secured ownership of the Black and Whites in July 2011 in a deal thought to have been worth between £2m and £3m, and he has invested heavily in new players for the current season.
