Airport adds more flight destinations

economy: A host of new flights are being launched from Humberside Airport – less than two months after a multi-million pound takeover.

The airport has secured routes for next summer to Dalaman in Turkey and Palma in Majorca for next summer with Thomas Cook, while a programme has also confirmed with Low Cost Holidays to fly to Palma for 18 weeks next year.

Flights to Alicante will return after a two-year absence as well as new flights to Maderia through July, August and September next year.

The announcement comes less than two months after Manchester Airports Group (MAG) sold its 82.7 per cent shareholding in Humberside Airport to Eastern Group, which also owns Humberside Airport-based airline Eastern Airways.

Paul Litten, Humberside Airport's commercial director, said: "We've made a commitment to grow the markets and improve the choice of services offered from Humberside Airport.

"This announcement, which comes after two months of hard work, is only the precursor to further growth in the coming months.

"This airport is a fantastic asset to the region which has been underused.

"However, everything we are currently working towards is focussed on increasing the destinations to give the one million people within an hour's drive of the airport greater choice."

Eastern Airways will also be operating seasonal flights to Cologne for the German Christmas Markets the airline will also be hosting a series of Santa flights in the run up to Christmas.

This follows from the news Eastern Airways further expanded its jet fleet after taking delivery of a third Embraer 145 aircraft.
