Hull City's Sone Aluko has 'long shot' of play-off return
SONE Aluko is only rated as a "long shot" to play again for Hull City this season, despite a successful operation on his long-standing Achilles injury.
Aluko went under the knife on Monday in a procedure on his plantaris tendon and specialists are confident he will only require two months of rehabilitation, rather than the six months feared.

Sone Aluko is unlikely to feature again for Hull City this season.
That positive forecast would give the 24-year-old the opportunity to play in a potential play-off campaign, but manager Steve Bruce is cool on the prospect.
"If everything goes to plan it'll be two months, rather than six," he said.

"The surgeon seems very optimistic about things but it's still a long shot whether he'll play any part this season, a big long shot.
"But it's better news for Sone and that's the main thing. It's been a really frustrating injury and now he can look forward to better times.
"It's been a big blow but hopefully this will finally fix him."
Aluko has been joined in the treatment room this week by midfielder Corry Evans.
The Northern Ireland international was initially named on the bench for Tuesday's 4-2 defeat at Crystal Palace only to withdraw following the warm-up after suffering a thigh injury.
It means Evans will be missing for Monday's trip to Burnley and next Saturday's home game with Nottingham Forest. A decision over his availability for Northern Ireland duty will be made next week.
Tom Cairney (calf) and James Chester, who needed stitches in a head wound suffered a Selhurst Park, both trained fully yesterday.

“Not 100% sure we currently need Aluko,Keep him on ice and get him right for next season methinks. Anyone who went Palace now knows for sure that Bolton was not a hiccup. Dodgy pen for sure, but we folded like a pack of cards to pace out wide when they broke on us during that period in the second half. Touch and go now for Auto, but still positive head on now starting at Burnley.
UTT.”

I agree 100% with your post , a full fit Aluko has got to be the aim for next season , promotion or no promotion , we have some strength in depth up front so to my mind , it's not worth risking a player of his caliber , after all he could be our key man next season .
Move the big waste of money striker on !!!!!!! and of course there is no Gtee that Gedo and co will be with us , so we have to have a fully fit Aluko for 2013/14 season .”

“Hopefully we won't need the play-offs, but if we did the possibility that both Fryatt and Aluko might play a part would be a real boost.”

“I would rather have him fit for the full season next year than fit for the run in this year. Lets hope he's not rushed into the team at the expense of his long term recovery. We've shown in the last few games that we've got goals in the side. I'm sure Bruce will continue to play down Aluko's fitness until we really need him back in the fold.”
