HOW I agree with the letter by S Broom.

There was outrage from the nation when a woman put a cat into a wheelie bin and left it there for 15 hours.

This event got lots of publicity.

In British laboratories animals are treated like this every day, unseen by the public.

Many experiments too awful to publicise are carried out in the name of science. Let's not be hypocrites – would we like our pets to be tortured in the name of science?
