They want poachers to know illegal hunting will not be tolerated in the East Riding.
The first county-wide anti-poaching operation of this scale will involve neighbourhood policing teams across the 900 square miles of the East Riding to deal with any calls about poaching and rural related crime.
Sergeant Dave Jenkins from Driffield Police station said: "We in the process of setting up the first county-wide Farmwatch, which will be an extremely useful tool to the police.
"We want to use this network along with our overt and covert poaching operations to send a strong message out to any potential poachers preparing to come into the area - it will not be tolerated and you will be dealt with accordingly."
Farmers who want more information or wish to join the scheme can contact their local neighbourhood policing team and they will be able to connect them with their closest Farmwatch group.

“Poachers carry an assortment of weaponry, including of course (mostly) licensed shotguns.
I wouldn't want to approach one of these individuals.
I couldn't care less about the vermin of East Hull wiping each other out over who got the biggest bag of drugs this weekend, but I do care that badgers are being killed - and they aren't even pests!”

“George, I have always wondered how Hitler could start with the program of killing millions of Jews in 1933 without too much protest.
Then I read your letter.
It solved the problem, all it needed was thousands like you not to care, or take the mickey out of those who did protest, and hey presto it happened.”

“The problem comes with the outdated image of poaching. If it were in Hull it would be called something else. The activities of these 'poachers' is far from the quaint 50's image of a few snares, we are talking about dangerous dogs, threatening behaviour armed with wire cutters and assorted nasty weapons. Why is it that 'serious' crime only happens in he city. There are more people living on the East Riding than Hull yet 75%+ of the policing budget is spent in Hull.”
