Apprentice: 'It was the break I needed'
ROSS Hardwick, 21, of Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, is doing work experience with Jackson Civil Engineering in the hope of winning an apprenticeship.
The Hull College student was working as a cleaner at the firm's site office when he was offered the opportunity.
He said: "At the end of the six weeks, if I'm good enough, I'm hoping to get a job.
"This is really what I can see myself doing in the future.

"I told them it was the break I needed to get me into full-time work.
"I've seen the project here change as it's gone on. It will be great in years to come to drive down this road and be able to tell my grandchildren, if I have any, that this is where I started out.
"Civil engineering projects are like that. You're creating something that will last and that is vital for people to live their lives.
"I think it's all fitting into place for me here."
