Artist adds 60s colour to the city
RETAIL: A Hull artist has helped transform Whitefriargate into a groovy 1960s-style work of art.
The windows of six empty shop units have been covered with creations by Hull artist Pinky, who has come up with his own colourful take on what makes his home city so special.
His work, which is also emblazoned across huge banners above the street, was commissioned by Hull City Council and Hull Forward to promote the Old Town area ahead of the climax of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.
Pinky said his vision for the street was to turn Whitefriargate into a "huge, open-air art gallery".
He said: "Pinkfriargate will be a colourful, fully immersive experience for everyone.
"It will celebrate peace, love, unity and fun."
