Shay Given
Given, 36, has lost his first-team place to Brad Guzan - who enjoyed a spell at City last season.
But Villa boss Paul Lambert told the Birmingham Mail he was unwilling to let Given leave ahead of a hectic festive period.

“Isn't Craig Gordon back fit and a free agent? Surely the Steve Bruce link should prove enough to get a keeper of his quality back in on a short term deal? Or is his lack of a contract atm something to worry about?”

“Washed up journeyman??? Are you smoking something???
He is one of the best keepers around... There is something more to the situation at Villa- Lambert appears to be trying to impose himself on the squad.
Given would have been one of the biggest coups EVER...”

“Play Jakupovic. You don't need some washed up journeyman like Given.”

“Pity we couldn't secure Guzan earlier, ie last season. clearly coming of age as it where!! shelftiger I have to agree with your statement. Jakupovic should be given the chance to prove himself! What is the point in bringing a keeper if you have no intention of believing in him?”

“Shelftiger
It say's that the club is ambitious and is always' looking to strengthen the squad for it's push for promotion to the Premier League, and that he needs to work harder in training and when he plays for the reserves to prove he's the number 1 keeper at the club.”

“With all this goalkeeper activity, how the hell must JAKUPOVIC be feeling ??
If he was good enough to sign, play him, if not why did we sign him. I agree Amos needs to come out the firing line for a while, but does the management see something in Eldin now, they hadn't seen before ?”
