Recently on the news many people have been talking about benefits and how many people use fraud to get those benefits. However I believe the media should stay out of it.

Over the decades approximately 30 million people have claimed benefits within the UK. A staggering £70 billion worth of the peoples money is claimed to be taken by benefit frauds. Despite this being beyond against the law and wrong in all human rights, I believe the government is partly to blame.]

It is quite obvious that people claiming benefits are not being checked properly, and made clear that he/she will deserve benefits. If the amount of benefit frauds are rising, it should be clear to the government to come down hard onto what is acceptable to claim benefits and what is not. For example the amount of people claiming disability benefits is over 3 million, and a staggering amount of them are frauds. My question is, how can you fake a disability? If people should happen to claim disability benefits, they should have evidence from registered doctors, slips to prove their disabilities and have back ground checks about their life within the past year to see if their motivation has been affected by it.

If the government took the time and effort to check over their benefits that they are giving they would save millions just by having the decency to check over their own paperwork and most of all hammer down on benefit frauds.

“riri06: Just where did you get the figures - "Over the decades approximately 30 million people have claimed benefits within the UK. A staggering £70 billion worth of the peoples money is claimed to be taken by benefit frauds."? How many decades and who claims the £70bn fraud or is it mistakes like not checking the figures? Do you know what, this smells like Taxpayer smears on the welfare state but I am open to you sourcing your figures.”

“if the government helped businesses in its own country before other countries then maybe britain wouldnt fall apart but yet there is loads made redundant, there is god knows how many businesses closed just because the government is so greedy only thinking of themselves and how to look good in helping other countries and yet if you were to walk down spring bank you will see for yourselves the amount of fraudsters down there...they are all opening up shops and it is all paid for by the government as they are all still claiming benefits”

“The government needs to set an example... just get Barclays, Vodafone, Ebay, Amazon etal to pay their billions in unpaid taxes then perhaps these alleged 'benefit fraudsters' will stop claiming thier £68 per week.”

“This is just another example of the views expressed by people who are too LAZY to actually think for themselves, are too LAZY to do 10 minutes research, and find it easier to add hate and weight to the 'dividedness' and the propaganda machine of this country.

The comment presents no evidence what so ever, it is badly written, totally unbalanced and biased in the extreme. Ian Duncan Smith could not have written it better himself!

Take for example "many people use fraud to get those benefits," how many? Where is your evidence? Where have you got this information from? "A staggering £70 billion worth of the peoples money is claimed to be taken by benefit frauds," how did you arrive at this absurd figure? What is your evidence? 70 BILLION what are you on?

The author of this is offensive to the extreme, by adding ammunition to the notion that the majority of those claiming benefits are scrounging scum - let me tell you one fact, most benefits are claimed by the working poor - to top up the 'unlivable' minimum wage lots of people fail to live off - not the ones who fraud the system. Can you not understand this is just another way to legitimately divide the under, working and midlle classes, to detract from the atrocities of the politicians and big business in power in order to make make more profits that they will then filter through an 'off-shore' company and not put anything in to the UK system. Even benefit 'fraudsters' - estimated by reputable sources at only 0.8% of benefit expenditure. Give me one example where the government and media for that matter, only state fraud. they never do -they always say fraud and error. With error accounting for the majority of lost money.

Your 'opinions' and your writing reflect how LAZY you are.”

“I worked in Benefits for 8 years. All checks are made on accounts, premium bonds and land held. The ones scamming the system are those who have NEVER worked and have no intention of ever working. In Driffield there were three generations of families who didn't work THROUGH CHOICE. Even when work was readily available. It was easier to sit on their bottoms and claim and by God they knew the system inside and out.
Genuine fraud was in the minority, what ERYC call 'fraud' usually amounted to the Job Centre telling clients that they would inform ERYC on changes in circs and NOT doing so.”

“The French company appointed by our "great government", assess peoples disability and proclaim that they are fit to work when they are clearly not able. Always overriding the Doctors opinion.A scam to scam vulnerable people and save the government millions. Work and Pensions minister recently called it "TOUGH LOVE",,,,,,
    tick,tock,tick,to.........”
