“no it any way am i laying blame anywhere cos im sure the driver did not mean to cause death but my point is whatever he was transporting, was it that important that it had to be transported TODAY rather than just waiting until either night when there is clear roads or until the bad weather had passed. NOTHING being transported by road is more important than 2 lives! in our advanced society why can contingency procedures not be made to transport by rail??”

“all respects to victims. stop hgv,s in inclement conditions, you will be without basic needs, etc. 99% of hgv people are responsible people, they understand what is happening on the roads, day by day, everyone is moving at a speed that may be ,not correct for the conditions, that is how incident, or accidents happen, stop laying blame untill you know, and you will never know, because you were not there. tomo ex pat ex hull. keepin in touch”

“its so awfull and always before Christmas too just remember millions of safe HGV miles are clocked up every week by many very safe drivers when somthing like this happens everyone of those safe drivers come under attack but remember evrything you handle this week got to you by them there is incompitance in all walks of life .I did 15 years behind the wheel and never hurt anyone and saw my fair share of idiots and stupid moves but I also saw many many very safe drivers.”

“Whilst you guys are arguin over a lorry driver, think of the more important parts of this story, like my dead father! he didnt deserve to be taken like that. How can any HGV be allowed on the motorway is such conditions?? surely that is the issue here, not who is to blame. R.I.P DAD.xx”

“Jez
You say that lorry drivers have no regard for other road users, yet you admit that you have seen them indicating before they pull out. You also say that you do 35-40k miles a year with your job. Allowing for weekends and holidays, conservatively speaking, that means you are averaging a miminmum of 150 miles per working day, which puts around 3 hours a day or 15 hours a week on your working week. I submit that your problem with lorries is borne out of your own excessive speed and that it is you, with the M25 mentality, that has no consideration for other road users. Deepest sympathy to the families of those killed in the accident.”

“Whilst you can't blame anyone for this terrible tragedu until the facts are known, Peter is absolutely right about one thing, and that is lorries indicating and immediately pulling out, forcing other drivers to brake and then queue behind them.
I drive 35 - 40k miles per year with my job and it happens EVERY day I'm on the motorways.
