EAST YORKS: Wildlife fans are stepping up a campaign against a proposed badger cull.

East Yorkshire Badger Protection Group wants people to oppose plans to kill badgers to combat the spread of tuberculosis in cattle.

A protected species, badgers can be carriers of the bacterial disease that led to about 40,000 infected cattle being slaughtered in Britain last year.

The Government is about to make a decision on whether a badger cull should take place in England and Wales following a consultation.
