Ballet star Liam Mower returns to West End for latest role in Sleeping Beauty
A BALLET star from east Hull has landed a star role in Sleeping Beauty, which is tipped to take the theatre scene by storm.
Liam Mower, 20, who found fame in the musical Billy Elliot in 2005, is set to play the part of Lilac Fairy.
The former Archbishop Thurstan School pupil impressed world-famous choreographer Michael Bourne with his performance in his show The Nutcracker last year.
Now, Bourne, who is also choreographing a production of Swan Lake, has offered Liam a leading role in his latest offering, Sleeping Beauty, which is due to tour England and America later this year.

Depending on its success, it could then tour the rest of the world.
Liam's mum Joanne, who lives with husband Paul on the city's Greatfield estate, said: "We are so proud of what he has achieved.
"Liam is thrilled at being offered this part in Sleeping Beauty.
"He must have really impressed Michael during The Nutcracker."
The Nutcracker, set in a Dickensian orphanage on Christmas Eve, marked Liam's long-awaited return to the West End after taking time to concentrate on his studies.
Last November, Liam graduated with a first-class BA (Hons) degree from the Rambert School Of Ballet And Contemporary Dance.
Joanne said: "Liam is living in London and is really enjoying life. He is due to come back to Hull in a few weeks for a bit of a break.
"Workshops for Sleeping Beauty begin in September, we are being told."
Joanne and her engineer husband plan to watch Sleeping Beauty, just as they have all the other shows Liam has starred in.
She said: "We can't wait until December when we get to see him. He has done really well to get this role. Liam has told us Michael is a lovely guy."
Joanne said Liam's latest role will be mainly ballet, but with some contemporary dance thrown in.
"He is looking forward to getting started," she said.
Liam, who counts Sir Elton John as one his biggest supporters, became the youngest person to win a Laurence Olivier Award for his critically revered performances in Billy Elliot.
