Out of employment and into a system

Of benefit blues, uurrggh

I can't seem to shift 'em

Feels like we're fish

And the shark's next target

Where is the lifeboat?

I've always done my bit!

All I see are the nets of dictatorship

Go here, and do this - else get nowt and that's it

Benefits stink and the process a farce

Leaving me skint, to the point of desperation

I can't pay my way

And that's no exaggeration

Times are real hard and I'm not being funny

But people are stealing coz they have no money

For gas or electric

I'm not being eccentric

This is real, and this is now

Happening in Grimsby

Somehow, some way, someday

I hope this poverty will have done its day

Deprivation leads to aggravation

No envisage or motivation

To work towards a better nation

If some could see what I have seen

Do what I've done, been where I've been

I'd like one day to write a book

Of many, for where the kids are

Growing up to take a look

And learn, how to keep on the straight and narrow

Waste not want not, get the wear out of what you've got

Before you throw away, stay out of debt, and work hard towards a better day in Britain.
