BEVERLEY and Pocklington start the new year with a tasty treat for their fans tomorrow as they go head-to-head in a derby clash at Beaver Park (2.15pm).

This will be the third meeting of the two clubs this season and although the Beavers made hard work of the league encounter at Pocklington back in September, when they won 14-11, they won the Yorkshire Cup tie at Pocklington, thanks to a very comfortable 31-17 scoreline.

With two wins from two under their belt already this season, it might suggest they have nothing to fear tomorrow.

But head coach Anthony Posa will have none of it, and says his players must be ready for a tough test.

"This is a derby match and Pocklington are an aggressive outfit up front, so we will be taking nothing for granted," he said.

"We have a few players missing through one reason or another and, although we have a decent squad and good cover, key players being missing is not ideal.

"We had built up a good run before the Christmas break and we need to hit the ground running tomorrow if we are to re-establish our form.

"Maintaining continuity with no game for three weeks and introducing new players as well is difficult but it is what we aim to do."

With key clashes on the horizon this month, Posa knows the Beavers' promotion hopes could hinge on their ability to pick up a few key results.

He added: "We face a difficult January because this Saturday's game is followed by a visit to Malton next week and then home games against Middlesbrough and Morley.

"I will be very satisfied if we can come through that lot in good shape."
