Beverley RUFC are due to face Cleckheaton in a re-arranged league match at Beaver Park this Saturday (kick-off 2.15 pm) and are hoping that there is a dramatic turnaround in the weather before then.

Following their victory over Birkenhead Park last Saturday the Beavers look upon this as an eminently winnable game and would expect to continue their improvement of late to climb further up the table.

Coach James McKay said: “Although we couldn’t train on Tuesday night due to the weather conditions and our indoor facility not being available, I have had no further reports of injuries and we would hopefully select from the same squad as we had against Birkenhead Park.

"However the biggest doubt is about the pitch itself. It is currently alternately waterlogged and frozen and, even if we suddenly got mild drying weather, which is certainly not forecast, I am doubtful that it would recover in time.

"We intend to inspect it on Friday morning and make a judgement then if possible in order to give Cleckheaton time to unscramble travel arrangements if necessary."

The game is scheduled to be sponsored by Yorkshire Plywood Ltd.
