BEVERLEY town centre has been hit by a power cut affecting more than half the shops.

Shops stretching from Saturday Market to Wednesday Market have been affected.

Some closed their doors but others, such as the Heron food store in Toll Gavel, allowed people to keep shopping, albeit in darkness.

No one from Northern Power Grid, which is responsible for the network, could be contacted by the Mail.

Bumbleside police even had the copter up for good measure.”
