BIG MATCH LIVE: Tigers defeated again
HULL City were beaten 3-1 as Doncaster inflicted another Championship defeat on the KC Stadium outfit.
With Craig Shakespeare in charge of the Tigers after Nigel Pearson's hospitalisation the previous day, City made the worst possible start when Martin Woods netted for the hosts after only 64 seconds.
-

Mark Cullen was given a start at Doncaster today
Nick Barmby grabbed an early equaliser but Billy Sharp netted from the penalty spot a minute before the break after Liam Cooper handled.
And it was game over for the Tigers after 64 minutes when James Coppinger turned in Woods' cross to make it 3-1.
Shakespeare said: "We spoke about being solid for the first 10-15 minutes but then conceded a sloppy early goal.
"I was disappointed with the penalty award and don't know what it was given for and it was always going to be an uphill battle then."
The Tigers were hoping manager Pearson would be discharged from hospital tonight after he was admitted after feeling unwell following training on Friday.

“oh dear TonyM,Hull. what a deluded fool you really are. if i had the time i would waste mine trying to explain your folly of thought, but alas it would be wasted time. you dont have the brain power or intelligance as many on here have posted before.
one thing i will say, which even your limited intelligence should be able to comprehend is this. what duffer and brown did to this club was similar to YOU TonyM, winning the lottery, getting the cheque and then spending it very quickly and foolishly on rubbishj. then one day you find you are broke again. borrow to keep up appearances and then get found out. thats what the 2 clowns did and bartlett can also take his share of the blame for letting it all happen in the first place. there tony, even you can surely understand this ?

“Tony........................'Wage Structure',WHAT WAGE STRUCTURE?????”

“Rocker, Just re-read your post again. The reason why we are not in the same position as Stoke and Birmingham is because we could not compete against their spending power. If you remember City went after several players, Whitehead, Faye and Lee Cattermole from Sunderland, now being tracked by Man Utd. were beaten to them because we would not break our wage structure to sign them. Stoke spent big in their first season. Birmingham did the same once David Sullivan left for West Ham. Their fans were complaining about the lack of success on the field because Sullivan would not put his hand in his pocket. All of a sudden when he left and they spent some money, voila, success! As Phil Brown said recently, had he been able to push the boat out on wages we would have ended up with a better quality squad. I seem to remember that City had a list of about eighty players who they may be interested in signing, based on ability and price. I would guess that the players we did sign were between numbers fifty and sixty on the list rather than being in the top three or four. It¿s ok having a good eye for players; it is a different thing being able to sign them. Talking of signings, I have to admit I wonder why we are trying to sign another rookie, no matter how good he is. Are we planning for this season or three or four years time? The problem is that, as City found when we beat Arsenal, a bit of experience can make a huge amount of difference against inexperienced players. I hope that when the loan signing period comes in that we manage to get hold of one or two more players with Premiership experience.”

“Rocker. You are wrong. The Premiership works differently, and if we don't learn that lesson, then assuming we ever get there again, then you can guarantee we will be straight back down again. If you think we can do it the AP way, and survive, then you are sadly mistaken.”

“TonyM,Hull. you and baz are linked in the realms of complete stupidity of mind
whilst richard maybe a little extreme in his comments and post are as near to the truth as you can get.
if phil brown had done his homework city could have brought in better players for alot less than they did. hull city should be where stoke and birmingham are and could well have been if PB / PD had known what they were doing. once we got to the PL proper steps were not taken. brian hortons advice was ignored and what happened from last summer is now history. getting there early is a stupid comment to make. City simply paid far to much for rubbish and did not get the players in who could have kept us there.
simple really. UTT”

“Richard, @ HOME. Completely disagree. I think Baz was nearer the mark with his 16.55 comment, although I personally think it was City that over achieved and not PB. I still think he has the makings of a top class manager together with his sidekick BH, and I would have preferred that to be with Hull City. I agree with Baz that it was the owner¿s inability to inject cash when it was needed that is the root cause of most of the problems at the club. PD and PB were far more ambitious than the owner, and in many respects, the fans, were ready for. I don¿t know where you got the information that RB made the decision about PB. The general consensus was that it was AP¿s decision, although that soon became the Board¿s decision when the criticism began to mount. I still maintain that it was as much to do with the personalities of PD and PB (and BH) why we ended up in the Premiership, just as much as their ability to motivate a squad of basically Championship level players. The quality of Premiership signings that were needed was not able to be made, which is when the rot set in. A number of fans say that PB and PD were arrogant, well if you look around the Premiership at the moment; it is hard to find a manager who does not have a certain air of arrogance about him. Even Roy Hodgson is popping up everywhere in the media. Successful people are often arrogant risk takers rather than hard working average guys. That essentially is what worries me about the present set up. We appear to have a ¿Let¿s work hard and see if we can be successful¿ bunch in charge at the moment, which we have had many times in the past, rather than the ¿let¿s get on and get promoted to the Premiership¿ approach, which we have had just once in my forty odd years as a City supporter. It is early days yet. I sincerely hope that NP is better soon and that he shows the fans the potential that we are told he has. AP gave Phil Parkinson twenty four matches before deciding enough is enough; however AP still has some face saving to do, so I expect us to turn the corner well before then. Ever since I started supporting the club, the talk has always been about getting the club to achieve its potential and reach the Premiership, and now we have done it once, nothing less will do.”

“Adam Pearson did appoint Phil Brown as manager, he brought him in as assistant in Dec 2006, then appointed him manager in Jan 2007, the club wasn't sold to Bartlett until June 2007.
We're four games into this season, we've lost half our first team squad and are trying to assemble a new one, it was never going to be easy. Anyone calling for Pearson's head now is either foolish, or just plain stupid, he needs time to sort things out and I'm sure that's exactly what he will do.”
