"Like a lot of teams who come here, they put a lot of players behind the ball once they went ahead and we just had to be patient."
Both teams went close early on with Adam Nicklin tipping over James Reid's 20- yard drive and Danny Clarke's drive parried by Chris Martin.
Ferriby should have taken the lead after 12 minutes when Ryan Williams was fouled by Joe Wilcox in the area.
Williams took the penalty but his shot was saved by Martin.
Ilkeston took the lead in the 22nd minute.
Joe Maguire's free-kick found Gary Rickets and his back-header found its way past Nicklin.
Clarke, Russell Fry and Kendall all went close but the equaliser proved elusive.
Fry's shot went wide and Clarke was crowded-out by Martin and a defender.
The equaliser came in the 88th minute when a spell of pressure ended with Kendall firing home from close range.
