Bin teams to visit Hull homes to explain changes to collections
HULL: A team of advisers are to visit hundreds of homes to explain changes to bin collections.
From April, the black bins for household rubbish will be collected fortnightly rather than weekly. Blue bins, for recyclable waste, will continue to be collected every two weeks.
For the next eight weeks, the group of 15 recycling advisers will tell residents of the changes and answer any questions they have.
They will also be able to take orders for extra recycling bins and explain what materials can be recycled.

Councillor Martin Mancey, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: "To achieve increases in recycling and ensure a smooth transition to fortnightly collections we need the support of our residents, so it is vital that we inform them of the changes.
"The team of 15 advisers will not only raise awareness of the changes to black bin collections from weekly to fortnightly, they will also highlight that by recycling more the change in collection frequency should not cause any problems."
Information packs explaining the changes will also be sent to every household by post.
