Bransholme woman stabbed by neighbour thought she was going to die (video)
A WOMAN who was stabbed in the stomach by her friend has revealed she thought she was going to die.
Niki Batty, 37, of Fulmar Close, Bransholme, was stabbed four times in the stomach and arms by Marie Lyon.

Lyon, 34, of Rufforth Garth, Bransholme, had taken a cocktail of tablets and drunk a bottle of Southern Comfort, before arming herself with a knife and making her way to Miss Batty's home last July.
The pair knew each other from school and their children had grown up together.

However, more recently they had fallen out due to a neighbourhood row involving Miss Batty's partner's parents and Lyon.
Speaking exclusively to the Mail, Miss Batty said; "I heard crying at the gate. I went outside and I knew it was Marie.
"She was saying 'I'm so sorry for what I've put you through. We've been friends for years', and she asked for a cigarette.
"I walked off and she came running from behind me, pulled me round by my left shoulder and slashed me across my face.
"I didn't realise what was going on and it was only as I saw the knife coming out from under my arm that I screamed 'she's stabbing me'.
"She definitely would have killed me. I thought she was going to. It was when I saw the knife coming out of my arm I thought 'My God, she means it'.
"She was saying all the time 'I'm going to kill you'.
"There was blood everywhere."
Lyon was originally charged with attempted murder and due to go to trial, but has now pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to S18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.
Miss Batty has been left with permanent scars on her stomach and arms and says the attack has traumatised her and her two daughters and partner, who witnessed it.
Lyon is the sister of Geoff Lyon, who was murdered in a brutal attack in Hull city centre in 2003.
The court heard she has previous convictions for threatening behaviour, possession of a prohibited weapon and making threats to kill.
Sentencing Lyon, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC said:
"This was a serious attack upon a defenceless woman. Mercifully, none of the injuries were serious.
"When an argument erupted you were straight to resort to using the knife, there was no holding back. This was not a single blow with a knife, but a repeated stabbing."
Detective Constable Rich Mills, who investigated the case, said: "This was a sustained attack, which was stopped by the victim's partner. It could have ended a lot worse."

“I am Nicola Batty's eldest daughter, and do not apperitate you ****ging off her accent, it doesn't make her any less of a surviver and it never will. MY MOTHER GOT STABBED which everyone doesn't seem to get! she didn't die and she is still her today to look after me and my little sister and i am so thankfull that someone up there has looked for my mam...you cannot comment on here untill you have been through it yourself and if you knew my mam you would think different. She is a brillient women and a fantastic mam...AND NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHINGwill every take that away from her, she is a strong women and if she wasn't here no one would be sane!!! i love you mam and always will and im so glad were finally coming to an end to it all...all we know for certian is it will never and i mean never happen again ill make god dam sure of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“I am the aunt of the children that this nut case did this in front of. I am just so glad my nieces still have a mummy and hopefully, in the future will forget what they witnessed happen to their mummy. I am very proud of my sister in law and my brother for coping with what has happened. How one mother can stab another mother, (who she has grown up with may I add,) in front of her children, regardless of the pathetic excuse she was under the influence of drink and drugs is beyond me. She took that knife to my sister in laws house, lured her out of her house, then CHOSE to stab her 4 times , and slash her face and neck, and she only gets 4 and a half years. That's justice? I think not. And for anyone who chooses to put pathetic comments about accents etc, may I hope nothing like this ever affects you.”

“I know Niki and I also know what her, her children and family have gone through since this happened. i also think that 4 and half years is mockery of the justice system. Marie is a nasty evil person and no matter what excuse she gives, nothing can justify what she did.

“nikki is a good person who didnt deserve this.nobody does.dont matter what there reason is,it dont mean you can can go out n stab somebody.i have worked with her for about 5 years n she wouldnt do anything to hurt anybody.it just goes 2 show how selfless people are in the world today.she got what what she deserved but not enough i thnk x”
