"When my issues finally came out in the open, it was a big weight off my shoulders.
"Having people standing by Brett is a big plus. In my case, I kept everything inside, which is the worst thing you can do. The support of the fans and those in the city was a big help and I'm sure it will be for Brett too.
Dean is offering to support Brett in his recovery.
He said: "He can give me a ring any time and I will meet up with him.
"I know what it's like and I can give him some advice."
• Email your messages of support to news@mailnewsmedia.co.uk and we will print a selection in the Mail and send them all to Brett. Please include your name and location.
