HULL: A bench has been dedicated to a popular animal rights campaigner who died after falling from a ladder.

Ray Jessop died in 2009 while decorating a house in Cranswick Grove, east Hull.

A bench in Queens Gardens was dedicated to him yesterday to mark International Worker's Memorial Day. The 53-year-old was described by family as a fervent animal rights campaigner.

HULL: A sponsored "dunking" took place at the Humberside Offshore Training Association offices on Sutton Fields Industrial Estate.

Twenty volunteers were put into mock-up helicopters and dunked into a four-metre pool from which they had to escape.

The event raised funds for St Peter's Church in Hutton Cranswick.
