MP fears BAE merger may threaten more Brough jobs
BROUGH: MP David Davis has voiced fears about further job losses at BAE Systems after the defence company proposed a £30 billion merger with competitor EADS.
The Haltemprice and Howden MP said it raised "real questions of both short and long term threats to British jobs".
At the Brough base, 200 people are at risk of losing their jobs.
Mr Davis said: "Even if EADS was willing to give undertakings as to preserving these jobs, we know from past experience of such mergers these never last in the long run.

“The government should stop this sort of merger, but they wont because some of their rich buddies will make money out this -- another example of the politicians selling us down the river for their own potential gain!”

“A none story really for the Brough site, what's another kick in the balls going to do. The real story is why did Bae systems sell off their stake in Airbus a few years ago and now want to be bedfellows with EADS, The board at Bae systems never loose their jobs even though decisions they take loose the company millions its only the workforce that suffer. Until this changes they will continue to make bad decisions”
