HULL: People are being urged to give blood at donor sessions in Bilton.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) said as the weather becomes colder and the days become shorter, many people will spend more time at home.

With constant demand for blood stocks, donors are being reminded it only takes an hour to save a life.

The donor sessions will take place at St Peter's Church Centre, from 2.15pm to 4pm and from 5pm to 7.30pm, on Tuesday.

EAST YORKS: The Hull, Beverley, Borough and Holderness Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society raised more than £1,000 at a recent flag day.

The collection was held in Beverley on September 22 and generated £1,039.41 for the charity.

Members of the branch said they would like to thank everyone who donated to the collectors on the day.

MS is a neurological condition that affects about 100,000 people in the UK.

EAST YORKS: The Stamford Bridge Singers will present a Jubilee Cabaret Evening at Stamford Bridge Village Hall.

The aim is to create a memorable event including a two-course buffet-style meal, starting at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 13.

The Stamford Bridge Singers, directed by Michael Wiles, will provide light-hearted and popular music and there will be an opportunity to sing along and wave flags.
