E HULL: Police have issued a safety warning following a burglary from commercial premises in the city.

Thieves forced their way into the back yard of GKD Litho Limited in Strawberry Street, east Hull, before breaking the lock on a metal storage unit and stealing 100 litres of industrial alcohol, stored in plastic drums.

The alcohol stolen has sparked a major worry because such a large quantity could put members of the public in danger.

The industrial alcohol is an unstable liquid with a risk of explosion if exposed to the atmosphere.

Police believe it may have been stolen to manufacture vodka and the thieves may not be aware of the potential risks involved.

The burglary happened between 9pm on Monday, October 1, and 8am the following day.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 101 referring to crime number 1933527.
