GCSE resits: East Yorkshire papers 'should have been regraded'
Hull and East Riding pupils will get the chance to resit their English GCSE after a national exam grading row.
Pupils who missed out on expected grades will be among 45,000 students nationally offered the chance to retake the exam after complaints about downgrading.

Several schools in Hull and four in the East Riding saw their overall GCSE performance dramatically fall after exam board AQA controversially raised English grade boundaries.

She said: "It's not the children's fault the grade boundaries were moved.
"Regrading the papers would have been a far simpler way of dealing with this.
"I have got a concern for those who have gone on to work or apprenticeships. They are no longer in school and not able to study for the retake at school.
"It's not just a case of resitting, they are all looking to improve on the grades they got, so they will have to up their game."
It is also feared the fiasco could hamper efforts to climb the GCSE league table, with Hull looking to rise from sixth off the bottom and the East Riding aiming to climb from 113th out of 151 local authorities.
