Police hunting Hull station bike thief arrest man, 50

Police hunting a man who poses as train station staff to steal bikes have made an arrest.

The British Transport Police released a CCTV image of the man from Hull's Paragon Interchange in a bid to find the offender.

He was caught on camera using bolt croppers to steal a bike locked at the station in May. In the image, he was wearing a high-visibility jacket similar to those worn by station staff.

A 50-year-old man from Eggborough, North Yorkshire, was arrested following the appeal.

He was questioned on suspicion of stealing several bicycles from stations across the north of England and has been released on bail while officers conduct further inquiries.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "I would like to thank the media for their support in publicising this appeal, and members of the public for the information they supplied, which enabled us to trace and arrest this man."
