“Harry Off Dock...
It is a number of people on here but yours is the most recent example here.
How does being racist (or not) bear any relation to being left wing? Have you visited a left wing country? Is racism any different there?
I think the term you might be grasping for is 'bleeding heart liberal'. But frankly no political branding has anything to do with racism.
Good that he has now been sent to prison. Agree that there should be some mechanism for deporting criminals within the EU if an offence which would lead to a custodial sentence is committed. (Perhaps we could try to sneak some of our own scum in too?) We are often told that immigration is high because of the rights of EU citizens to migrate here. For fairness it should work the other way too.”

“Sorry to contradict you left wing fools but Robertas Orlauskas is Lithuanian.
I know it doesn't fit in with your rainbow tribe ,all inclusive, multicultural EU socialist manifesto, but hey, that's the truth for ya.”

“so imigrants come here and bring their standards with them.
A bit like the thugs who follow England all over the world with their standards.
Do you think the million or so expats living abroad are all paragons of virture.
Grow up and be realistic”

“this countries punishments does not fit the crime. He will be back behind the wheel asap drunk again, next time hopefully he does not cause an accident where an innocent child or person dies as a result of his actions. Like has been the case many times of late.
Justice is never done for the criminals of this world.
Sadly we are to easy going. Jailing is no deterant but maybe a public flogging should be brought back. Oh i forgot human rights but dont the innocent have any rights too?”

“Not small mindedness, but maybe the locals are hearing and seeing more for themselves nowadays how some immigrants behave and bring their undesirable cultures with them, so sadly for the decent immigrants, whether right or wrong, its maybe not that surprising that a foreign name and a case like this makes people automatically assume he is one?.”

“@ Strangley,
If every DD caught were to be imprisoned for ten years it would cost us all a fortune and why should they have a cushy time behind bars.”

“Perhaps if any immigrant who offended forfeited their residency rights the law would be taken seriously (well, as seriously as anyone can take British law). At least the worst of the crop would be skimed off and thankfully sent back whence they crawled.
It makes you laugh politicians say the safety of the UK is paramount, when they let potential terror suspects out on feeble home curfew sentences, sex offending practically un-checked taxi drivers on the streets and have no power to filter the type of 'economic migrant' that Blair wet himself in excitement to welcome. Theres enough trouble with domestic offenders-any arrival who offends-stick on a ferry/plane.”

That was 10 years in the chokey, not a driving ban”
