Fundraising success for Hessle RNLI

E YORKS: The Hessle branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has raised more money than ever in a single year.

The charity collected just over £22,300 for the work of the lifeboat service – the largest amount ever raised in its 43-year history.

A spokesman said: "We are delighted that, in spite of the tough economic climate, our branch has managed to raise such a figure.

"It is a great testament to all the hard work of our volunteer fundraisers and supporters and to all those individuals and businesses who have continued to support us throughout the year."

The branch's 2013 fundraising effort begins with the annual new year quiz night at 7.45pm on Friday, January 18, at All Saints' Church Hall in Hessle.
