NORTH HULL: Up to 60 jobs are set to be created after plans for a major expansion at a city nursing home were given the go-ahead by councillors.
The £6m development at the St Mary's home in Chanterlands Avenue will see an extension to the existing facility and a new two-storey nursing home being built on the grounds.
The scheme by Private Medicare Ltd will see the number of beds at the complex increase from 48 to 104.
The expansion will see a number of existing shared bedrooms with en-suite facilities being upgraded and converted into single rooms.

HULL: Bookings are now being taken for a series of printmaking courses at a city art gallery.
The Studio Eleven gallery in Humber Street, city centre, is hosting three workshops on successive Saturdays next month.
Starting on February 9, each session will be led by a different artist and feature different printmaking techniques.
Each session runs from 11am to 4pm and places can be booked for each one or as a group.

HULL: Lord Mayor of Hull Councillor Danny Brown is hosting a bridal fair later this month to raise funds for his annual charity appeal.
The event takes place at the Guildhall, Alfred Gelder Street, city centre, on Sunday, January 20, from 11am to 3pm with a £1 entry fee.
HULL: Proposals to convert three bedsits in Bransholme into larger accommodation have been submitted for planning approval.
The move by Hull City Hull aims to make the properties in Welshpool Close, Ladyside Close and Trawden Close more attractive to let.
If given the go-ahead, the work at all three sites would involve closing existing public footpaths which run underneath the bedsits.
