WEST HULL: The city's oldest adult store closed its doors yesterday.
Tim Watson, owner of Gwenap, on the corner of Princes Avenue and Spring Bank, says he will continue the business – but online.
He previously told the Mail a massive slump in sales was to blame for the decision to shut up shop.
Last year, Mr Watson sought to convert the shop into a café bar dedicated to the business's 110-year history.
However, the application was refused by city planners due to a large number of cafés in Princes Avenue is swamped with café bars," he said.
Despite the setback, Mr Watson says he is remaining positive.
"This is not the end of Gwenap," he said. "We will continue, but for now at least, it will all be done online.
EAST YORKS: Veterans of the 1960s Aden Emergency are invited to join a newly formed association.
Brian Edge, pictured, a Royal British Legion standard-bearer, is inviting anyone who served in the Middle Eastern conflict, to join their ranks.
He said: "Our aim is to maintain the memory of all those who gave their lives in that far distant land."
A number of locally-recruited regiments fought in the conflict from 1963 to 1967, including the now-merged Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire.
Mr Edge was in his early 20s when he fought in Aden in the 1960s with 4th Battalion, The Royal Tank Regiment.
The branch will hold its first meeting at 12.30pm today at The Gilson Hotel in Anlaby Road, west Hull.
For further information about joining the branch, call 01482 879359.
