Too many criminals getting cautions, says Hull MP Karl Turner
Too many criminals are getting off with a caution, Hull East MP Karl Turner has claimed.
Mr Turner, who is a practising criminal solicitor, believes fewer crimes are being prosecuted because of a lack of resources and a need to keep down prison numbers.

He is concerned that instead of bringing offenders before the court, police are cautioning them or deciding to take no further action.
Mr Turner said: "I have been given a number of examples that support this assertion, including one case of sexual assault, dwelling burglaries and violent assaults.

"I am concerned this is due to much-reduced resources for both the Crown Prosecution Service and the police.
"This has serious implications for victims of crime and I have asked the Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee Keith Vaz to conduct an inquiry into this issue."

“Karl should get his own back yard in order. Margaret Moran commits fraud to the tune of £90,000, pleads mental distress and fails to appear (a sure sign of guilt) to which the judge couples the Stockholm syndrome to the Nuremberg defence by way of a damage limitation exersize; then her defence team utilise the Levenson enquiry to hide behind in order to prevent the media from investigating just exactly how she managed to get away with it. Then she receives a £25,000 golden handshake!”

“big words from mr turner, the man who defended the scum who cold bloodied murdered my brother for his boots and phone and also tried to kill an old man the same night. mr turner and his defence team thought it was a good idea to try and play down the killing as just a drunken folly. your scum mr turner who loves money and job over morals, full of lies just like a true MP you should fit in well”

“I agree that everyone has the right to defence and I believe in a fully independent judiciary. However if Mr Turner wants to do us all a service scrap the Human Rights Act --we all know it is a lawyers, criminals and illegal immigrants charter and the main weapon to destroy the demographic make up of the United Kingdom. KiminHull is correct this is about handing out cautions but there again this is all due to the politicians persistently defying the democratic will of the people - build more jails, stop putting secret orders to the police to let criminals off (do you think we are stupid?!!) by giving cautions, increase all fines by a factor of 20 to allow for inflation and rake the money in to pay for jails and get a bloody grip.
New Labour deliberately set out to destroy us, so any comments and Labour politicians says, (no matter how much I like them as a person) is nullified as it's all lies and spin. Mind you so are the Tories and teh LibDems. UKIP for me!!”

“Our criminal justice system works on the basis that you can have a legal defence. I wouldn't change that for a minute. If the Police have done their job properly and followed due process then the defence will fail if the party is guilty. Running the legal profession down because they may have to defend guilty people from time to time is madness. What were complaining about is, even when people do get caught red handed, the Police are letting them off with a caution. A caution for a sexual attack is not on.”

“Hunnyb_2252
What sort of a fool are you calling defence solicitors do-gooders, are you seriously suggesting no one has the right to defend themselves in a court of law, do you really think that they should turn their backs on anyone they feel may be guilty.
better still lets have mob rule, then we may get real justice like the Salem Witch hunts....idiot”

“Some criminals don't even get a caution. Take a look at Labour MP Denis McShane enjoying parlimentary priveleges so police can't prosecute over thousands of pounds worth of expenses claims. Also how many bankers have been jailed in this country for misselling products, rigging rates and generally f'in up this country. Never mind those greedy landlords charging criminal rents in the city!”

“I would say "three strikes and you're out" more than two convictions is just taking the p**s and flaunting the law. The scum who commit murder, sexual and volent crimes, drug dealing/smuggling, should be sent to prison straightaway. Robbery after first offence, depending if there's violence involved, petty crimes such as shoplifting can be dealt with by giving the culprits 300+ hours community service. Something definitely needs doing before this country grinds to a halt.
Mr Turner is a solicitor, one of the do-gooders who put these scum back on the streets in the first place, wouldn't he have a conflict of interest? How much would he lose by putting these criminals behind bars?”
