E YORKS: A petition has been launched by an East Yorkshire MP in a bid to ensure householders in the region can receive flood insurance.

The Statement of Principles, due to expire in June, ensures firms will provide flood cover as long as the Government continues to invest in flood defences.

Now, Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart has launched the petition to put pressure on ministers.

He said "The Government is working with the Association of British Insurers to find a replacement but this is not happening fast enough and pressure needs to be applied to secure a fair deal for homeowners.
