Plan to move police officers into Haltemprice Leisure Centre welcomed
Plans to relocate police officers from a traditional station in Kirk Ella to a nearby leisure centre have been welcomed.
Under the switch, officers will transfer from their base in Redlands Drive to the Haltemprice Leisure Centre after it undergoes a £6m facelift.
The move to share facilities with East Riding Council has been spearheaded by new police and crime commissioner Matthew Grove.
Councillor Mike Whitehead, who represents Willerby and Kirk Ella, said: "After years of campaigning to open up the village police station as a fully working station for residents, I along with my two colleagues are absolutely delighted that Commissioner Grove has taken such a bold and innovative step only a matter of weeks after coming into post.
