Head zookeeper John Pickering said: "All the staff at Sewerby Zoo are very grateful to the visitors who adopt our animals.
"Some of the animals are adopted by the same person year after year and some are adopted by clubs, organisations and schools.
"Sometimes when I feed the animals, I feel sorry for them knowing that nobody has adopted them."
