Heritage Lottery Fund hope for Pocklington Canal
EAST YORKSHIRE: A renewed bid to revamp Pocklington Canal has been launched after an initial application for £1.9m to pay for major improvements failed.
The Canal and River Trust is finalising a new bid, believed to be for about £500,000, to go before the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The original intention was to create a learning centre.
If the latest bid is successful, money will be used to improve signage and waterway paths.

The Canal and River Trust, which has the Prince of Wales as its patron, was launched last year to tackle a range of projects that include protecting and enhancing a stretch of Pocklington Canal.
Jon Horsfall, north east waterway manager for the Canal and River Trust, said: "In an increasingly fast-paced and crowded world, Yorkshire's canals and rivers are vital local havens for both people and nature."
