The trust in charge of Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital says no food used in the hospitals has been contaminated with horse meat.

In light of the horse meat scandal, Hull East MP Karl Turner wrote to the trust asking for assurances hospital food did not contain horse.

Head of facilities Jill Venables said: "We have received written assurance from all of our suppliers that none of the food they provide to us contains horse meat."
