EAST YORKS: Bishop Burton College has celebrated a Beacon Award for Practical Teaching and Learning in Agriculture at a celebratory lunch for invited guests.
Award sponsors Edge Foundation presented a £5,000 cheque to college principal Jeanette Dawson and chairman of governors Mark Flint.
Award assessor Jane Samuels said: "I visited the college last year as part of the judging process and was stunned by how staff and students not only met every single claim from the application, but exceeded them in every criteria.
"Every aspect of the application was evidenced as to how the college is equipping students with the skills and experience to step into their future. For me, there was no contest as to who should win the award."

EAST RIDING: Staff, parents and pupils at St Mary's Market Weighton RC Primary are celebrating after the school was rated as "good" by Ofsted inspectors.
The school was classed as good in every category, including achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour of pupils and leadership.
A previous inspection had described the overall effectiveness of the school as "satisfactory" but the inspectors ruled that significant improvements had been made since the last inspection.
