EAST YORKS: Staff at the Defence School of Transport (DST) have said a fond farewell to their Commandant, Colonel Paul Ash.

Col Ash has left to become the Commander of HQ Royal Logistic Corps TA in Grantham.

He said: "DST has seen an enormous amount of change this last five to six years and none more so then in the last three years.

"The demand to do more with less is ever present and it's due to the outstanding efforts of all the staff that have put us in such a strong position for the future.

Following Col Ash's departure, staff at DST have welcomed Colonel Rob Peacock to the role.

One of Col Peacock's first jobs was to meet staff and soldiers at a Caribbean celebration to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday.

HULL: A woman was injured after a hit-and-run at a zebra crossing.

The victim was in Calvert Road at the junction with Spring Bank West at about 6.45pm on Friday.

The woman was knocked to the ground when she was hit by a car on the crossing.

Anyone with information should call Humberside Police on 101.

BEVERLEY: A woman has been ordered to pay back almost £5,000 after pleading guilty to benefit fraud.

Myra Williams, 47, of Shepherds Lea, appeared before Beverley Magistrates' Court after she failed to declare a second job as a self-employed courier.

She received an 18-month order of conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £500 towards legal costs.

She will also have to repay the £4,717.47 benefit she fraudulently received between May 2004 and November 2012.
