Hull's flood risk warning over East Riding housing
EAST YORKSHIRE: City councillors have called on their East Riding neighbours to apply the same flood risk assessments as used in Hull to determine the scale of potential new housing development in Haltemprice and Howden.
In backing their own planning officers' response to the East Riding's Draft Local Plan, councillors in Hull said there needed to be a consistent approach to planning policy across the region's flood-risk hotspots.
Planning committee chairman Councillor Sean Chaytor said: "All we are suggesting is there should be a level playing field for both councils."
