Bright future for the Dart
The Dart in Hebden Road, Longhill, is now under new management and I called in there on Sunday night to see how it was going.
With the main concert room currently closed on Sunday nights, things were a little quiet and I had a chat with manager Darren Lacken to ask what was in the pipeline.
Along with his partner, Robyn Chapman, he is planning live entertainment on Saturday nights and is looking into the possibility of introducing jam nights in the future.
Among the acts set to appear in the coming weeks are 2012 Star Search winner David Barton this Saturday night, Gary Marsden on Saturday, January 19, and Kelly Marie on Saturday, January 26.

They have an over-50s afternoon every Thursday with a free buffet and they are looking for pool and darts teams.
Darren plans to ask his regulars for ideas of what sort of midweek activities he could introduce over the coming months. I wish them both good luck for the future.
OUR last port of call was the St Vincent's Social Club in Queen's Road, Hull, and it was good to see this club is still busy post-Christmas and New Year.
I called in to see vocalist Kevin London and really enjoyed his set.
He has a big personality and all the right songs for the members, who loved every bit of his show.
A member told me "he's a born entertainer" and his voice was in fine form, singing songs such as Happy Birthday Sweet 16 by Neil Sedaka and I'm Gonna Make You A Star by David Essex.
He ended his set with a song I hadn't heard for some time, One Man Band by Leo Sayers.
I have to say a big thank you to some of the members for making me so welcome at this lovely club and Frank West and the committee for putting a lot of time into St Vincent's.
Membership for this year is now open and this weekend sees Howard Ellis performing on Saturday night with Neil Baker on Sunday night.
GIGS of note this week include Ti Amero, Zara, Unmasked and Serena Williams in a fundraising show at the Willows Club in Holderness Road, east Hull, tonight.
Toni Ellis is at The Crown and Anchor in Newport on Friday night, Dylan James is at the Buckingham Club in Brecon Street, Hull, on Saturday night and on Sunday night the Goodfellowship in Cottingham Road, Hull, is holding a singles disco from 8pm. For more information, call 01482 814803.
