“Hmmmm, so the driver did clearly stop at the scene, and clearly no one present at the scene felt it necessary to call an ambulance?
As the lady cyclist was taken to hospital some time AFTER the incident, and the fact the police are appealing for witnesses almost a MONTH after the incident makes me think someone has mentioned the word 'COMPENSATION' to the lady cyclist?
Or perhaps she's taken 'advice' from one of those ambulance chasing 'no win no fee' firms?”

"Why are these appeals for witnesses at such occurences invariably made several weeks after the event?"
Good question and are these appeals for witnesses successful?
Maybe they have a good idea who was driving but he is denying it?”
