A STALKER described as one of East Yorkshire's most dangerous men has admitted threatening to murder his victim on his release from prison.

Nigel Grunnill, 37, has harassed Claire Gray for 15 years after going on three dates with her in 1997.

STALKER: Nigel Grunnill admitted threatening to murder his victim on his release from prison.

He has repeatedly breached restraining orders and in 2005 was jailed for eight years for threatening to kill her.

But just weeks before he was due to be released Grunnill, formerly of Queens Road, west Hull, made repeated threats to kill his victim to three probation officers.

Grunnill told the officers: "I don't dwell on things, other than Claire. Murder changes everything and will happen in time. I guarantee that will happen – just a case of when.

"I'm one of the top, most dangerous people in Humberside because I'm probably going to commit an offence.

"Nothing will stop me."

Grunnill compared himself to Newcastle murderer Raoul Moat and stalker Michael Pech, who killed his victim and himself in London.

He told probation officers the only thing that prevented him from killing his victim before was not having a gun.

Grunnill said: "If I found her family were in prison, I would break into the prison to get to them. The only thing that stopped me achieving my goal last time was that I didn't have a firearm."

Prosecutor Camile Moreland described Grunnill as "fixated" with Miss Gray and out for "revenge".

The pair had met in a nightclub in the city and gone on three dates in 1997.

Grunnill became obsessed with her and began stalking her at her home in Sutton.

Detective Constable Adrian Adamson said: "Nigel is one of the most dangerous individuals we have ever dealt with and has been a thorn in the side of the victim and her family for several years.

"His actions and threats have changed the lives of the victim and those close to her."

Grunnill yesterday pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to two counts of making threats to kill.

A judge has told him that measures need to be put in place when he is sentenced to protect the public.

Recorder Julian Smith said he was considering detaining Grunnill in a hospital for people suffering mental illness.

He said: "Looking at the reports available, what is needed here is hospital intervention."

Grunnill is due to be sentenced in December after he has been assessed by three psychiatrists.

“Kustard What do we do with those in a permanent coma or vegitable stase. they are not contributing to society.

“Execution was ended in 1965 because too many innocent people had been hanged, any talk of bringing it back is pointless because big brother Europe would never allow it. As for executing this lunatic because he had threatened to kill the lady in question, only an idiot would suggest that, if everyone who had threatened murder was executed there wouldn't be enough days in the year to carry it out! The answer is simple, life in prison should mean life, lock this excuse for a man up until he dies.”

“"Nothing will stop me," says Grunnill.
    How about the Atlantic Ocean?
Claire Gray deserves peace from this ugly mad man.
When the new St Kilda community is established far beyond the Outer Hebrides, Grunnill will be responsible for collecting delicious fresh seaweed from the beach and leading the weekly Morris dancing sessions. He and the other specially nominated former offenders from Hull and East Riding will be able to wile away the long winter nights exchanging tales of their exploits back in the Yorkshire homeland they shall never see again.”

“Sadly, assessment by psychiatrists usually ignores the 'appetite' of the subject for their actions. He does this stuff because he wants to.

"I'm one of the top, most dangerous people in Humberside because I'm probably going to commit an offence."

"...probably..."? Hahaha...HuUmberside's most dangerous hedger of bets.

On the other hand, "I'm just saying this because I quite lilke it inside."”
