'Castle Street upgrade is vital'
EARLIER this month, Stagecoach ramped-up calls for measures to reduce congestion in Hull city centre.
Graham Renshaw, assistant operations manager at Stagecoach, said punctuality has suffered due to traffic hold-ups in Ferensway.
He believes the only way of solving the problem is to press ahead with plans for the £168m upgrade of Castle Street at the Mytongate junction.
Mr Renshaw said: "Plans for the Mytongate junction upgrade are vital if we are to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and use the city's buses."

The Mytongate improvement scheme proposes lowering Castle Street to allow traffic between Ferensway and the Marina to cross above.
The are also ambitious proposals to create a "land bridge" over the A63 at Castle Street for pedestrians between the city centre, Hull Marina and the old Fruit Market.
