Chart-topping indie bands to play back-to-back gigs at Bridlington Spa
HIT bands The Kooks and Scouting For Girls will headline at
Bridlington Spa in back-to-back gigs later this year.
It comes after the entertainment complex officially opened
last month after a £19.5m refurbishment.
Brighton band The Kooks will launch their UK tour at the Spa
on Friday, November 28 before heading off to venues in Brighton
, London and Wales.
Scouting For Girls will play on the Saturday and both are
expected to be a sell out.
Jo Clarke, sales and customer services manager at the venue,
said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to book these
bands.
“Both are very current and I am sure there will be a rush
for tickets for the concerts.
“We have always thought having back-to-back gigs would be a
nice idea, but in this case it was not planned.
“It is easier to put on two rock gigs as everything is in
place, like the lighting and sound.”
The Kooks have enjoyed Top 20 success in the singles charts
with She Moves In Her Own Way and Always Where I Need to
Be.
Fans can also expect to here tracks from their number one
album Konk.
Scouting For Girls enjoyed similar fortunes with their
singles She's So Lovely and Elvis Ain't Dead, which both
reaches the Top 10.
The concerts follow a 3,500 sell-out gig by fellow indie
stars The Pigeon Detectives, who performed as part of the Spa's
grand launch.
Tickets for both concerts go on sale from the Spa box office
on Friday at 9am.
The Kooks are priced at £21.50 plus a£2.50 booking fee and
Scouting For Girls tickets are £17.50 plus £1.75 booking
fee.

“I've been trying to book tickets for both these bands since 10am but I've not been able to get through on the phone,I wish they had online booking system set up.I've probably missed my chance to see these great bands in my home town due to the system they have in place for booking tickets,Thanks East Riding Council! I did manage to egt through once,I was in a queue for 10 minutes then I was just cut off!!!!! I'm really angry.”

“Stan the booking fee is there so the booking office or ticket outlet make some money from selling the tickets. The door money goes to the promoter and band. If city hall have a show there they are often not the promoter so its not worth their while selling tickets without this added fee.
As for the price, thats just inflation for you. At least its on £21. If you want to see the Stones these days then expect to pay over £100. Thats not inflation, thats just greed.”

“Great for Brid if you like those bands. On another note (pardon the pun) when are we going to get some more major acts to the KC Stadium? (Not McFly, Steve!)”

“£21.50 and booking fee? I saw the Rolling Stones there for the equivalent of 32pence, and no booking fee. Daylight robbery. and this booking fee stuff is just another rip-off. My son wanted to see a group and I went down for him to the booking office, handed over the money and was given the ticket and was charged a booking fee. Why? Do they add a purchasing fee on top when you buy a tin of baked beans?”
