Pupils at Sirius Academy in Pickering Road, Hull, ran 1,000 miles in a day to raise £1,000 for Sport Relief
Hundreds of thousands of people are set to take to the streets for Sainsbury's Sport Relief Miles across the length and breadth of the UK.
So far 1,337 people have registered to take part in Hull, compared to 900 in 2008, the last time the charity event took place in the city.
Runners can choose to do one mile, three miles or six miles – lapping the same route to complete their selected distance.
Fundraising activities were taking place throughout yesterday and today and more are planned tomorrow.
Pupils at Sirius Academy, in Pickering Road, west Hull, took to the field to raise £1,000 by running 1,000 miles throughout the day.
Pupils wore red to take part in various activities.
As well as the Hull Mile there will be a host of entertainment on the day with sporting challenges from Hull City as well as a Wii Stand.
All the money raised by the public will help transform lives here in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.
Sport Relief is running the Hull Mile in conjunction with Hull City Council..

“Conrad. You are what's wrong with this city. Instead of sitting in your house seething over people helping others in this "hellhole" of a city, why don't you go out there and do something to make it a better place to live? You live a very sad life, please, do us all a favour and disappear from the planet.”

“What a pathetic comment. Care to sponsor me tomorrow?
Tell you what, don't bother. The 3000 children who die every day in Africa from Malaria clearly do not matter. Enjoy yourself and spend the money on a pint - raise a glass to them!
We are hoping to raise £100 to help save the lives of 20 children - it DOES matter to most of us.”

“If everyone in this country ran 100 miles to raise a thousand pounds each for Sport Relief it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to "lives across the world's poorest countries." Basket cases the lot of them. This is far more about colossally overpaid sporting egos easing their consciences and gaining much needed positive publicity by being seen to be doing something for charity. I'd be much more impressed if every Premier League player gave a tenth of his obsence salary to this cause. I'm sorry to see nearly 1,400 sporting enthusiasts in this ramshackle hellhole of a City have been suckered into this farce. I hope they don't hurt their knuckles too much as they drag them along the ground for a mile or so!”
